TRYZUB AWARDS
PRESENTED BY
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH
On behalf of myself and the entire Tryzub Awards committee, I would like to congratulate this evening’s recipients on their well deserved awards.
More than a year has passed since Russian aggressors attempted to undermine Ukrainian Sovereignty. In the eyes of the world, it has been a year of resilience, strength and perseverance for Ukrainians who have solidified their presence, culture and history on a global scale.
This year we are thrilled to have selected these deserving recipients, Boris Horodynsky and William Browder. Boris is an outstanding example of a Ukrainian-Canadian that has dedicated his life to his community and philanthropy. Bill has been a vocal opponent of Russia, leading the global push for the Magnitsky Act and advocating for Ukraine. We are humbled to be able to honour you both.
Thank you to the generosity of all of our supporters. We have once again surpassed our target for this year!
These funds will be shared between the Ukrainian World Congress for humanitarian initiatives in support of the Ukrainian people and the Shevchenko Foundation for programming in support of Ukrainians displaced by the war and continuing to arrive in Canada.
We look forward to an evening of celebration and reflection.
Our hearts and prayers continue to be with the people of Ukraine.СЛАВА УКРАЇНІ !

The proceeds from tonight’s dinner will be used to fund two specific initiatives in support of Ukraine.
Ukrainian World Congress.
The organization has been spearheading humanitarian aid and efforts in war torn Ukraine since the start of the war. UWC has been working tirelessly to ensure that support and aid are reaching the front lines and to the civilians that need it the most.
One of their most successful campaigns has been Unite With Ukraine, sending much needed military equipment and supplies to the region. You can learn more here: www.unitewithukraine.com
The Shevchenko Foundation.
The Shevchenko Foundation has become a go to organisation for Newcomers and non Ukrainians learning to navigate the system and garner information on how to support the war in Ukraine.
TSF continues to promote programs to make cultural and educational opportunities more accessible for displaced Ukrainian youth in Canada.
The Shevchenko Foundation (TSF) is a national charity that fuels artistic creativity, community development, and the evolution of Ukrainian Canadian culture within the Canadian experience.
In its leadership role as a catalyst for strategic philanthropy, TSF celebrates Ukrainian Canadian community, arts, heritage, and education, as integral to the Canadian identity.
The Ukrainian Canadian community has been an integral part of the development of Canada for more than 130 years and continues to be a leading contributor to Canada’s ongoing development.
The Tryzub Awards were created by The Myhal Family Foundation which saw a need to unify our community across Canada to celebrate the accomplishments of those who have achieved success in their chosen fields, have worked in support of Ukraine, Ukrainian causes, the Ukrainian-Canadian community and Canada overall.
With support and partnership from The Shevchenko Foundation, we have aspired to reach the entire Ukrainian-Canadian diaspora to celebrate our recipients, and through The Shevchenko Foundation, use the raised funds to support numerous causes that reflect the daily lives and interests of Ukrainian Canadians.
And to all of our supporters who purchased tickets to join us this evening to celebrate our outstanding recipients.

Boris Horodynsky is a Canadian businessman, philanthropist, patron of Ukrainian-Canadian culture and heritage, farmer and conservationist.
His parents came to Canada in 1949 and 1950 from Ukraine through the displaced persons camp in Salzburg Austria.
Boris grew up at the north end of Yonge Street in the Holland Marsh area. The Holland Marsh is one of Canada’s most fertile regions of black soil, suited to vegetable production.
With a keen interest in science, building and engineering, it was with that background that he chose farming to be his career. Also having Ukrainian blood in his veins, farming was clearly in his DNA.
Boris is well known within Canada for his generous philanthropy that is very seldom mentioned, just as Boris would have it. Through the Boris Horodynsky Foundation, he has support projects like The Horodynsky Community Kitchen located within Rizzardo Health and Wellness, The Bloor West Ukrainian Festival since its inception, The Boris Horodynsky Music Fund created with the Shevchenko Foundation, and Lead Musical Sponsor of the Tryzub Awards Gala. Within the Ukrainian-Canadian diaspora, he is known for his generous support of initiatives that support grassroots efforts.
The Boris Horodynsky Foundation’s mandate is to improve or maintain hospitals, health and wellness facilities and the development of literary and visual arts within the community.
Today, Horodynsky Farms produces as high as 25,000,000 pounds of yellow, red and pink bulb onions and is one of the largest onion growing operations in North America. Boris himself continues to be an integral part of the communities that he is a part of and continues to win over much respect and admiration from those he interacts with.
William Browder – CEO Hermitage Capital Management, Head of the Global Magnitsky Justice Campaign and Author of Red Notice and Freezing Order.
Bill was once the largest foreign portfolio investor in Russia until being decalred “a threat to national security” in 2005 for exposing corruption in Russian state-owned companies.
In 2008, Mr. Browder’s lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, uncovered a massive fraud committed by Russian government officials stealing US $230 million of state taxes and was subsequently arrested, imprisoned without trial and systematically tortured.
Sergei Magnitsky died in prison on November 16, 2009. Ever since, Bill Browder has led the global Magnitsky campaign for governments around the world to impose targeted visa bans and asset freezes on human rights abusers and highly corrupt officials, introducing the passage of the Sergei Magnitsky Accountability Act in 2012, & the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act 2016. Which has since been adopted by 11 countries, including USA, UK, Canada and New Zealand.
Chantal Kreviazuk is a platinum-selling, Grammy and three-time Juno Award-winning artist from Winnipeg. In 2016, she returned with her sixth album “Hard Sail.” While raising her three sons with husband Raine Maida, she also spent time on her other musical passion, crafting songs. Chantal has written for Drake, Pitbull, Kendrick Lamar, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Josh Groban and countless others. A holiday album – “Christmas Is A Way Of Life, My Dear” – followed in 2019, and a brand new album “Get To You” was released in the summer of 2020.
In 2014, Chantal and Raine became members of the Order of Canada, recognizing their efforts to raise awareness and support for numerous causes including human and animal rights, mental health, education and the environment. Chantal has been an ambassador to War Child for over two decades and one of the organization’s founding artists. Raine and Chantal recently released their first collaborative album together as MOON VS SUN, “I’m Going to Break Your Heart,” as well as an accompanying documentary.
